I can't login, or I forgot my username or password.
If you can't login, check to make sure that your "caps lock" key is off. Your username and password are CaSe SeNsItIvE. If you still cannot login, you can request to reset your password or contact us.
How can I delete my account?
If you are absolutely sure that you want to delete your account, you can do so here. Please note that your account will be permanently deleted and irrecoverable!
How can I update my profile?
To update your profile, you must visit the Edit Profile page. You can move through the different parts of your profile by clicking the tabs at the top of the page.

How do I view pictures
A) Green Tab Menu - click "Site Sections" to bring up the yellow and orange drop down menu, select "Photos". Select the sorting criteria for which photos you'd like to browse. Click on an individual album name or photo to see the rest of that album.
B) Site Home Page - in the "What's New" section on the lower left, click any picture to see the specific picture, or album name to see the rest of the album.
C) Text Navigation Links - click "Photos". Select the sorting criteria for which photos you'd like to browse. Click on an individual album name or photo to see the rest of that album.
D) User Profile Page - photos uploaded by a user will be displayed either in a "Photos" tab at the top of the profile information, or on the left hand side of their profile page. Click on any album name or picture to see the rest of the album.
E) User Home Page - in the "Community Activity" section on the lower left, click on any recently posted photos to see the individual photo, or album names to see the rest of the album.

How do I upload photos
A) User Menu Bar - "My Tools" drop down menu, select "Photos"
For a new album, click "Create New Album". During album creation, privacy options for who can see your photos are available. Be sure to click the "Create Album" button to save these settings and make your new album. These settings can be changed later by saying "Edit album" and then "Edit album info". You should be automatically directed to the upload page.
To upload photos to an existing album, click "Edit Album". Privacy options about who can see or comment on photos can be changed "Edit album info". Be sure to click the "Save Changes" button to confirm your settings. Once the album info has been saved, you can click "Add New Photos" to go to the upload page.
Once you reach the upload page, the uploader application in the box is currently under development. While we are completing our site construction, another uploading utility has been provided through the "Having trouble uploading files? Click here to use the simple uploader." text link below the box. Click that link and then add the file names/locations one at a time, up to five photos per upload. Please note the file requirements listed at the top of the page. Once you've entered all of the file names you wish to upload, click the "Upload Selected Files" button. When the upload has finished, a status for each file should be reported, and you will be given the opportunity to upload more files. Once you are done uploading, to view the photos, click on the album name in blue at the top of the page after "Upload Photos:". To see all of your albums again, to edit/add titles and comments about the photos you just uploaded, to edit a different album, or to edit the same album again, use the User Menu Bar, "My Tools" drop down menu, "Photos".

How do I find new friends with a list

How do I find new friends with a map

How do I invite my friends

Enter your email address, password, and the security code generated by the search engine, and then click the "Invite Friends" button to allow the FG website to access your address book in order to send out invitations to your friends.
To manually enter data without having FG access your address book, click on the "Or invite by manually typing emails" link below the graphical interface. Once all of the addresses, any message you want to send, and the security code have been entered, click on the "Send Message" button to invite your friends to join Freedom Gardens.

How do I write a journal entry
User Menu Bar - "My Tools" drop down menu, select "Journal", click "Compose New Entry". Enter your entry data in the boxes provided. Clicking "Show Entry Settings" will bring up privacy options for your journal entry. Click the "Preview Entry" button to see how your journal post will look. Click the "Post Entry" button when you are satisfied with your entry.
How do I read journal entries
A) Site Home Page links - in the "What's New" section in the lower left, click on any journal entry title to read the entry.
B) Green Tab Menu bar - click the "Site Sections" tab to bring up the yellow and orange drop down menu, then click "Journals" to browse journal entries
C) Text navigation links - under "Site Sections" click "Garden Journals" to browse journal entries

How do write a poll
User Menu Bar - "My Tools" drop down menu, "Polls", select "Create New Poll". Fill in the appropriate boxes (including those revealed by "Show Privacy Options" if desired), "Add Options" if your poll could have more than two possible replies, and click the "Create Poll" button.
How do I read/take polls

How do I join a group
A) Site Home Page - in the "Popular Groups" section on the lower right, click the title of the group you'd like to join. Once on the group profile page, click the "Join This Group" link under the profile photo.
B) Green Tab Menu bar - select "Groups" to be redirected to a listing of all groups. Click the title of the group you'd like to join. Once on the group profile page, click the "Join This Group" link under the profile photo.
C) Text navigation links - Click "Groups" in the "Site Sections" box to be redirected to a listing of all groups. Click the title of the group you'd like to join. Once on the group profile page, click the "Join This Group" link under the profile photo.
D) User Profile Page - on the left hand side below the profile photo, one of the boxes lists all of the groups the user belongs to. Click the title of the group you'd like to join. Once on the group profile page, click the "Join This Group" link under the profile photo.
E) User Home Page - in the "Recent Activity" section on the lower left, either click on any group discussion topic name listed in the "All Site" tab or a group name listed in the "Newest Groups" tab. If you are redirected to a discussion thread, click on the name of the group at the top in blue. Once on the group profile page, click the "Join This Group" link under the profile photo.

How do I kept notified of forum responses

B) Text navigation links - under "Site Sections" click the "Forum" link, select the "Settings" tab. Change settings to notify you as desired.
C) User Menu Bar - "My Apps" drop down menu, "Forum", select Settings tab, OR "Forum" drop down menu, "Settings". Change settings to notify you as desired.
When reading journal topics, you can select the "Bookmark this topic" link at the bottom of the page at any time to add the topic to the list for notification.

How do I read comments on a profile
A) Site Home Page - the "What's New" section on the lower left will list comments posted to profiles. Click on the username of the comment recipient to be redirected to the profile comments section. Newer messages will appear at the top of the list of messages. You may also click on any username in the "What's New" section to be redirected to their profile page, select the "Comments" tab, and see all comments left on their profile.
B) User Profile Page - to the right of the profile photo, select the yellow tab that says "Comments". Newer messages will appear at the top of the list of messages.
C) User Home Page - the "Community Activity" section on the lower left, in the "All Site" tab, will list comments posted to profiles. How Do I?
How do I start a group.
A) User Menu Bar - in the "My Tools" drop down menu, select "Groups". Select the "Create New Group" link at the top of the group listings. Fill in all appropriate boxes/options and click the "Add Group" button to save. On the second page you may add a photo - enter the location of the photo or use the browse buttons to help locate the file you want to use, and then click the "Upload" button to add your file. Please note the file requirements listed. You may also change your group name and description - be sure to click on the "Save Changes" button.
How do I edit group information or access options
A) User Menu Bar - in the "My Tools" drop down menu, select "Groups". Select the yellow tab with the kinds of group information you want to change or update. Fill in all appropriate boxes/options and click the "Save Changes" button to save before leaving each tab.
How do I invite other members to a group

How do I read a message

How do I create an event/meetup
Right now only the site administrators are authorized to create or modify meetups and events. We appreciate your patience while we insure we have things set up correctly before we launch this capability.
How do I join/leave an event/meetup

How do I chat
A) User Menu Bar - in the "My Tools" drop down menu select "Chat". Once you are logged in, you may write comments to participate in the discussion. Use the buttons below the text box to change the color/bold/italic/underline of your comments or use emoticons. Click the small clock to display or remove timestamps.
How do I instant message
When you are logged in to Freedom Gardens, there will be a grey bar across the bottom of your screen that says on the right "Friends Online" and then a number indicating how many of your friends are logged in and available for instant messaging. Click on that button to see a list of who is online. Click on a user name to open a window for writing and reading messages with that person.
If you prefer to make yourself unavailable for messages, click on the small person icon to the right of the "Friends Online" button. A window for "Options" will come up - change your status to "Offline" and people will not be able to message you. If you do feel like messaging with people you can always go in and change it back to "Online".
The IM function is designed to play sounds when you have a new message. To turn the sound on or off, click on the small person icon to the right of the "Friends Online" button to bring up the "Options" window.

Is my information kept private?
Absolutely. We do not share any personally identifying information about you to any third party.
How can I make my profile private?
If the administrator has enabled it, you can make your profile private by visiting the Profile Privacy page.
How can I block users from contacting me?
You can block people by adding their username to your blocked users list. Visit the Account Settings page to learn more about how to block people.
How do I change my security settings
A) User Menu Bar - Settings drop down menu, select "Privacy Settings", or "Account Settings" and then the "Privacy" tab This page offers a variety of options for which kind of data you want to make available to others, and which categories of users will be able to see it. Make sure that you click the "Save Changes" button at the bottom of the page before leaving this tab in order to save these settings.
